The GCSE Chemistry written examination takes the form of three papers (Chemistry 1, Chemistry 2 and Chemistry 3) of 45 minutes each.

Each paper accounts for 25% of the total marks (the other 25% coming from centre-assessed unit, which includes the ISA and PSA).

The examination board is AQA and the course reference is Chemistry (4421)

Most candidates will be sitting the Higher Tier paper (CHY1H, etc) for which grades A*-D may be awarded.
A few may elect to take the Foundation Tier paper (CHY1F, etc) for which grades C-G may be awarded.
Foundation tier papers are scheduled simultaneously with the Higher tier papers
